Not a bad game for the most part, with goals from Heffernan and Coppinger.
Rovers made a super start and the first goal came on the 5 minute mark, when Coppinger slipped a through ball to Heffernan who took it to the edge of the Bristol penalty area before striking a shot goal-wards, the ball deflected off Sankofa as Basso went the wrong way.
Bristol City were causing panic in the Rovers penalty area, Rovers though defended well and managed to clear the ball away without loan keeper Seremet being worked.
SECOND HALF
As the cold weather crept over Belle Vue, Steve Brooker took a shot well from 15 yards out only to smash into the Rovers crossbar following a decent cross in from the left.
Rovers seemed to be alerted by the near equaliser and seemed to grab the game with the scruff of the neck.
The Bristol keeper was never going to stop a brilliantly taken back header from Coppinger and in it went into the far top corner of the net all from a superb crossing free kick from Thornton.
3 important points and Rovers looking good for the play-off places.
Come on Rovers!!
