In the first half, Rovers got two free kicks in quick succession placed just outside of the penalty area from which a fine strike from Predic which the keeper parried and McIndoe struck a terrific strike just over the bar from 30 yards out.
Five successive corners followed, one of which McIndoe urged the keeper into diving full stretch to push away. From another corner, Predic headed towards Fortune-West in which he headed over the bar from a close range free-header.
Budtz got down well to save to his left with a shot from Shakes. Halfway through the first half the Rovers had a few successive corners again but they were all wasted. On the half hour mark, Predic made a long creative pass from defence out to McIndoe on the left, Macca then swung in a brilliant low cross.
The ball was played down the left wing to the halfway line where FORTE picked it up, Shakes was half a yard ahead of him, but Forte jinked the ball past him and him to run on and slam past Heaton for a fine individual goal. Rovers 1-0 Swindon
Minutes from the break, an athletic overhead kick by Fallon from 15 yards out was brilliantly palmed away by Budtz at full stretch and out it went for a
Forte, had two more efforts on goal but Heaton was positioning himself well to save without effort.
In the second half, Rovers made a necessary second substitution; Steve Roberts was struggling at the end of the first half and was replaced by Nick Fenton.
On 50 minutes, McIndoe was played down the left and from pulled the ball back for Fortune-West only to swing the ball over the bar from 10 yards. There was a large amount of time in the Rovers half, but the defence held them off well.
On 65 minutes, McIndoe crossed another defence cracking cross over to Fortune-West, but his header was saved by Heaton. Forte was sent off for a second booking, he was adjudged to be time wasting from a throw in. He was already booked in the first half for his goal celebration.
Budtz made another brilliant save with his legs with what looked like a certain equalizer from Cureton. In added-on time, Ifill received a second yellow and was sent to the dressing room. The two red cards certainly didn't tell the story of the match, as the game was played with no real nastiness.
Rovers last chance of the game came when Heffernan's shot bounced up off of a defender, but keeper Heaton palmed it on to the bar and over for a corner.
Third league win on the bounce for the Rovers, and we're up to 12th, not bad to say only 4 games ago we were 24th!
