Frustrated Macclesfield manager David Moss responded to his club's boo-boys with a defiant message after his side's humiliating home defeat.
He said: "I'll live with it, I suppose they are entitled to spit out their bile and filthy language at me, but I'll keep my cool and carry on." He added: "I've saved this club twice from Conference football and I can certainly do it again." Doncaster Manager Dave Penney was rather more upbeat: "With more composure we could have had a couple more, but that is now nine in three away games and five in the last home game. The goals have come back." Macclesfield took the lead in the 17th minute when Martin Carruthers buried a 15-yard header into the roof of the net for his fourth of the season. Both Carruthers and centre-back Steven MacAuley then went close before Rovers punished their slack defending on the stroke of half time.
Gregg Blundell was left completely unmarked to lash home a 20-yard drive into the bottom corner.
The Yorkshiremen side grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck in the second half, capitalising on a comedy of errors on 49 minutes as John Miles left the ball for Tommy Widdrington only for John Doolan to pick out Paul Green on the edge of the box.
Green took one look up before planting a clinical finish inches inside the near post.
Rovers effectively sealed the game four minutes later when their on-loan striker Chris Brown was upended by Karl Munroe, for Michael McIndoe to score his fourth goal in two games from the spot.
Carruthers tried desperately to respond but on 70 minutes his volley was tipped over the bar by Andy Warrington while on 79 minutes he placed a shot wide.
To make matters worse MacAuley was sent off deep in injury time for violent conduct.
