Gregg Blundell struck twice to take his goal tally to 18 for the season and edge promotion chasing Doncaster closer to division two.

Rovers struggled in the first half in blustery conditions but snatched the lead straight after the interval and never looked back.

Mark Albrighton and David Morley where twin towers of strength at the back for Doncaster as Bury shaded the first half but seldom looked like scoring.

Dave Challinor had a low shot saved in the 6th minute and Matthew Barrass volleyed wide as the visitors forced the pace but it was Doncaster who went closest to breaking the deadlock in the 26th minute.

Blundell latched on to a left-wing cross from Michael McIndoe but his header was tipped away by keeper Glyn Garner.

Lee Duxbury had a shot blocked by Albrighton before Harpal Singh missed a great chance for Bury when he headed wide from close range after Terry Dunfield had set up the chance.

Albrighton came to the rescue again to deny David Flitcroft in the 39th minute but Rovers made the break through less than a minute after the interval.

It came from an incisive passing move involving McIndoe and Adebayo Akinfenwa which opened up the Bury defence leaving Blundell with a simple chance of side footing into the empty net.

Garner did well so save from Blundell again in the 57th minute before Akinfenwa had a header cleared off the line by Lee Duxbury as Rovers began to assert themselves.

Blundell made it 2-0 in the 69th minute after Akinfenwa had unselfishly created the opening.

Akinfenwa headed against the post 12 minutes later but was not to be denied and grabbed the third goal in the 73rd minute following great play by Morley and Blundell.

Singh score the goal of the game with a magnificently struck free kick in the 88th minute but it came too late to save Bury from defeat.
