Doncaster clinched their sixth successive home win after a scrappy start to keep up the pressure at the top of Nationwide Division Three.
Both sides struggled in the opening stages before Rovers established a grip on the game with John Doolan outstanding in midfield.
Doolan made his presence felt with a string of superb passes and also peppered the visitors goal with a series of pot shots.
It was a 30-yard piledriver from Doolan in the 25th minute which sparked Rovers into action when the ball was deflected inches past the post.
It seemed to give them the impetus to push forward more and they snatched the lead six minutes later.
Simon Marples set up the chance with a splendid cross from the right and on loan striker Chris Brown headed home in fine style at the far post.
Boston's former Doncaster midfielder Neil Redfearn battled all the way for the visitors and he had a shot on the turn fly just over the top in the 39th minute.
Rovers regained control straight after the interval to rock Boston with two goals inside a minute.
Michael McIndoe and Gregg Blundell set up the chance for on loan midfielder JJ Melligan to score on his debut when he forced the ball home after having his first attempt blocked.
Boston lost possession straight from the restart and it proved costly when Marples raced through on the right to lay on another goal for Brown who headed home unchallenged.
A brilliant pass from Doolan lead to a chance for McIndoe to add a fourth in the 63rd minute but overworked visiting keeper Paul Bastock did well to parry his fierce shot.
Boston were well beaten but Redfearn was unlucky not to get his name on the scoresheet after a series of attempts on goals which culminated with a superb 78th minute free-kick which struck the post and bounced to safety.
