Colin Hendry made a miserable start to his managerial career as Blackpool were well beaten by newly promoted Doncaster Rovers.
Rovers dominated throughout and Hendry's men were fortunate not to take a bigger hiding in the sweltering conditions.
Blackpool were poor in the first half but it needed a goalkeeping blunder to give the home side the league.
Sasa Ilic fumbled a cracking 20-yard shot from left-back Tim Ryan and allowed the ball to trickle over the line.
Blackpool went from bad to worse after that and never tested home keeper Andy Warrington with a single first-half shot on target.
By contrast Ilic was kept continually busy at the other end and had to save at full stretch from Michael McIndoe in the 24th minute.
Ryan went close again with a powerful effort just over the bar but Doncaster should have had more goals to show for their first half superiority.
John Doolan and McIndoe had shots deflected and Gregg Blundell twice missed chances.
Tricky winger Martin Bullock began to cause problems for Doncaster in the second half as the visitors began to step up their game.
Bullock dribbled through in the 53rd minute to set up a great chance for John Murphy but his shot was brilliantly tipped over the post Warrington.
But although the Seasiders improved after the interval they always looked second best.
Leo Fortune-West missed a great chance to make it 2-0 in the 59h minute after being set up McIndoe.
But the big striker made amends when he clinched the issue nine minutes from time calmly slotting the ball home after Blundell had set up the chance.
