Promotion-chasing Doncaster stretched their unbeaten run to nine games thanks to a sloppy defensive display by the visitors.

The home side had all the luck going as they built up a 2-0 lead in the first 22 minutes, but Hereford contributed heavily to their own downfall.

It was Hereford who set the pace at the start with Steve Guinan flashing an angled shot just wide in the third minute after Doncaster had failed to clear a long throw.

Rovers had a lucky escape a couple of minutes later following a bad mistake by Dave Morley, but Guinan failed to take advantage and fired wide.

Guinan was just unable to connect with a right-wing cross from Chukki Eribenne with the goal at his mercy in the sixth minute.

But it was Doncaster who took the lead completely against the run of play a minute later with a fortuitous goal.

Justin Jackson mis-kicked after being presented with a chance by Paul Barnes, but the ball ran to Mark Albrighton following a mix-up in defence and the Rovers man was left with a simple tap-in from close range.

Paul Parry hit a snapshot wide as Hereford tried to fight back but Doncaster made it 2-0 in the 22nd minute following a dubious penalty award with Paul Barnes converting the spot- kick for his tenth goal of the season.

Andy Watson had a low shot tipped round the post and Jamie Paterson hit the woodwork as Doncaster tried to add to their lead.

But the second half was all Hereford with Ian Wright having a powerful header brilliantly saved by Andy Warrington in the 75th minute.

Hereford battled to the finish but Doncaster held firm at the back to record their fifth successive clean sheet at home
