Halifax staged a great rearguard action to hold on to a richly deserved point after having captain Shaun Garnett sent off in the first half.
Garnett was shown the red card on the half hour for what looked no more than a bookable offence after bringing down Jamie Paterson.
But despite the loss of their skipper, who was having an excellent game, Town produced a superb backs-to-the-wall display to deny the home side victory.
Doncaster Rovers did not really deserve more than one point in any case after failing to produce their best in a frequently scrappy match.
Halifax started better with Garnett in commanding form at the back, Steve Bushell dominant in midfield and Ian Fitzpatrick creating problems in attack.
Fitzpatrick had to be sacrificed after Garnett's dismissal with substitute Adam Quinn coming on at centre-back as Halifax were forced to place the emphasis on defence.
Lee Butler produced a splendid save to keep out Dean BarrickÂ’s free-kick, following GarnettÂ’s sending-off and he also did well to tip away a close-range effort from Robert Gill.
The home side failed miserably to make their extra man count and Halifax actually had chances to pull off what would have been a remarkable victory.
Andy Warrington was at full stretch to save from Lewis Killeen and Phil Clarkson hit a snap shot just wide soon after.
The miss of the match came from DoncasterÂ’s top scorer Paul Barnes who headed over the top from close range in the closing stages after Tristram Whitman had hit the bar.
