Barnsley 0-2 Rovers

A hard faught game which had two goals, two red cards and two great saves.

Rovers took the lead on 12 minutes when McGuire lofted a pass down the right touchline for Coppinger, who lifted it into the Tykes penalty area first time, Carbon tried to clear but only headed it to GREEN, who blasted a low shot into the bottom right of the net from 20 yards out.

On 17 minutes, there came the first red card. Coppinger got in the way of a clearance by Austin on the touchline, Austin pushed Coppinger over the advertising boards and fell about 2-3 foot to land on his head on the concrete on the other side. The referee sent Austin off with a straight red and deservedly so.

A chance for Barnsley came when Burns crossed in a good ball for Carbon to head goalwards but the midweek hero Budtz tipped over the bar and then punched away the resulting corner kick. Two minutes later, another chance for the Tykes, Burns crossed from the right, Conlon headed in from about 5 foot off of the goal line but Budtz was there to push the ball wide for a corner, which Kay headed well wide.

In the second half, Coppinger placed a cross brilliantly to McIndoe's feet who whacked it on the volley but it struck the crossbar and went over for a goal kick.

On 81 minutes, McGuire was in a forward position 8 yards from goal when Coppinger crossed in from the right wing but his diving header crept wide. A few minutes later, McIndoe swung a good pass from the left to Coppinger on the right who swung the ball back for MULLIGAN to hit a superb volley from 25 yards into the Barnsley net, Colgan dived full stretch but couldn't get anywhere near the ball.

During the course of the game, Barnsley seemed to lack in discipline and hit Coppinger with some ground shuddering tackles along with Green having to go off injured; Rovers were constantly getting knocked over by crazy two footed challenges and The Tykes were lucky to have only two sent off in the end.

Well, it looks like Rovers poor start to the season could finally be over, lets hope we can get a result at Belle Vue on Tuesday against League 1 strugglers Swindon Town to stretch our winning streak to 4 games.
