Season Ticket Demand

As predictable as rain in April or Rotherham getting beaten at home, Doncaster Rovers owner has been made his "I'm investing, why aren't you?" speech again to the local press.
Speaking the day after signing Heffernan from Bristol City for a reported record transfer fee, John again voiced his disappointment towards the Doncaster public. And to a point I agree with you John. However...

I can't be the only one who's bored with all of the marketing spin over the last few years. The end of season rally's are a great idea for generating support. This does however leave the management team and the players trying to attain unrealistic goals.

Did anyone really expect us to go up for a third time in a row? If you'd been at the rally at the end of the 2003/04 season you would. "Make sure you get your season tickets early, most games will be all-ticket". Result? We still have a fantastic season, finish 10th but a good proportion of fans are disappointed and lethargic about the whole thing. A lot of games were not only not all-ticket but were reduced in price.

Poor ticket sales have resulted from a mid-table finish, a slow signup of big name players, rumours and confirmations of fans favourites leaving (McIndoe and Doolan), poor facilities and the fact that £270 is still a lot of money for a lot of people in Doncaster.

John will always rightly have legendary status in Doncaster, but you have to come down to our level sometimes John. A lot of fans spend thousands of pounds following the Rovers during the season and the summer is a chance to recover. I'm sure there will be a rush for tickets as the pre-season friendlies kick in, trust me.
