After Newcastle United lost 1-0 to Doncaster Rovers, Armthorpe born Toon manager Kevin Keegan reflected on his past at Doncaster and the club in general. The interview is an extended version to the one shown on the local news.
"I was just saying to the chairman of Doncaster that no-one was trying to kick each other but there was some good football played. You don't like loosing games but it was a soft goal and we created some chances and we had 10 players not here today for different reasons but all in all it was a good work out"
"I thought Doncaster as well got a lot out of the game, they're probably a week ahead of us in terms of training and it shows"
"I think they're a little bit ahead of us and I hope they have a great season next year because it's my hometown team"
Kevin Keegan was then asked whether he had a good day in Doncaster to which the reply was "Yeah, I love Doncaster, it's my home town and I've been away since I was 15 and I'm now 57 so I've been away a lot longer than I've been here"
