A Look Ahead - Part 3

And so to another of the relegated Championship teams - Gillingham.

It's been some time since I've been to the Priestfield Stadium. On my last visit (the Fans Utd game against Brighton) it was a run down, shabby old ground. But if you compare the pictures below you'll see it has been transformed.

New stands and facilities and it now looks like a nice presentable little ground.  Good news for the away fans who now get to sit in the rain, rather than stand! Luxury!  It really hits home how badly Belle Vue has suffered with our journey into the Conference compared to other clubs who went the other way.

The only other reason for Rovers fans to get excited about Kents only football league club? The much rumoured transfer of Darius Henderson. Darius has been rumoured recently to have submitted a transfer request and wants to move back up north, although this was rejected by Gillingham manager Neale Cooper.

Gillingham should be challengers this season. With a strong, experienced squad including Iwan Roberts, Darren Byfield, Steve Banks and Andy Hessenthaler they should prove too strong for most. The big question is how quickly can they shake their relegation hangover?

Prediction : 4th.
