Loan Signing 1 - David Wheater:
The 18-year-old England youth international has made one Premiership appearance this season as a 62nd-minute substitute in the defeat to Arsenal last month. The centre-back could be in the starting line up to face Barnsley tomorrow at Belle Vue.
Born in Redcar, he has developed rapidly and grown into a tall and commanding central defender, moving up from the U17s and U19s to become a regular for the Reserves and a valuable member of the first team squad. Loves to get forward for set pieces and weighs in with more than his fair share of goals. His reward was a place on the bench for Boro's historic first game away in a major European competition, against Banik Ostrava in September 2004.
David has also represented England at U16, U17, U18 and U19 levels, helping the U17s to fourth place in the European Championships in France in 2004. Made first team debut when going on as replacement for Stuart Parnaby a couple of minutes from the end of the UEFA Cup last 16 game away to Sporting Lisbon on Thursday March 17 2005.
Loan Signing 2 - Kevin Horlock:
Rovers have signed Ipswich midfielder Kevin Horlock on a one month loan and will join the squad tomorrow. 33 year old Kevin will bring experience to the midfield and add to a depleted squad ahead of the Barnsley game. Kevin has played 14 times this season for Ipswich Town in the Championship.
Kevin started his career as an apprentice at West Ham alongside Darren Currie but failed to make a breakthrough at Upton Park and moved on to Swindon on a free transfer in 1992.
Went on to play in the Premiership for the Robins, scoring 22 goals in 163 League games for the club, form that persuaded Manchester City to sign the Northern Ireland international in January 1997 in a £1.25m deal.
The midfielder spent six years with City, playing under Joe Royle's management for half of that time and clocking up 232 appearances for the club, scoring 42 goals.
In the summer of 2003, Glenn Roeder took him back to West Ham and the 31-year-old was a regular in the heart of the Hammers' midfield for the first half of the season but he gradually drifted out of favour with new boss Alan Pardew and when the opportunity came along to rejoin Joe at Town in the summer of 2004 he grabbed it, signing a two year contract. Capped 32 times by Northern Ireland but now retired from the international game.
Two much needed signings, but lets hope they can get us out of this rut we are currently in.
