David Penney has indicated this week that he may well use the remaining fixtures to experiment.
Players will get a chance to prove themselves good enough to compete for places at this level and that includes Rigoglioso, who disappointed last week but promised so much when he arrived from the better Lancashire seaside town, Morecambe.
There may well be changes in the team though with Green back after a week’s rest. McIndoe has not trained all week due to a chest infection. Robert and Guy both picked up knocks against Brentford but will probably be fit for tomorrow’s game.
Rovers beat Blackpool at Belle Vue, 2-0, in the first game of the season with goals from Big Leo and Tim Ryan. Another result like that would be just dandy.
The only note of caution is that the last two seasons have not been kind to Rovers when it comes to the Seaside.
Out of the FA Cup to Scarborough last season and Exeter this season. Out of the LDV last season at Blackpool. Rovers lost too, at Torquay and Bournemouth, in the league. Only Southend have proved a successful seaside town for the Rovers.
But that’s in the past. As we peer into the future, it is all aboard the Rovers Tram on Saturday for another rock solid performance from the Mighty Reds and another win to see us march up the table.
I’m mad enough to predict 3-0 to Rovers…
