Sean O'Driscoll-Survival in the Championship is our main aim

Although Swansea's Roberto Martinez was snapped up by Wigan Athletic this summer, O'Driscoll believes that top-flight opportunities for Championship managers are thin on the ground.

"The occasions where lower league managers are given the opportunity to manage a Premier League club are few and far between," he said. "If that's the case, taking Doncaster Rovers into the Premiership would most seemingly be the most likely option.

"Managing at any level is difficult, no more so than in the Premiership. However, any ambitions to reach the Premiership must be based on sound, and sustainable, financial business plans."

According to O'Driscoll, Rovers are again looking at survival as their main target for the season.

"The initial aim is to retain our Championship status once again," he said. "Some very strong, experienced sides have come down from the Premiership and some very strong, well-backed clubs have come up from League One. Once that target is realised, others become a possibility."
