Rovers director of football, who received a guard of honour from both teams as he came on to the pitch to thank the near 3,000 crowd before the kick-off, saw his testimonial fund receive a big boost from the game against Mick McCarthy's team. He said: "It was a fantastic day. The spectators at this football club and everyone else from chairman John Ryan downwards are tremendous; I can't thank them enough." Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll said: "I think it was a good work-out. I think Mick McCarthy wanted to bring his side here for a good game rather than a celebrity-packed testimonial game. "It was a massive step up from the other games we've played, which was good. "But we thought that we caused them problems as well, so overall I thought that both parties should be pleased." Striker Jason Walker returned to Barrow, who were reported to be wanting £100,000 for him but all the other four trialists who turned out in the midweek win at Grimsby, played and developments are expected in the next day or so. O'Driscoll said: "They wouldn't have been on the pitch if they weren't in the frame. Whether we can do anything is down to other things, which is always a complication. "They have all done really well and we are pleased with them. They have all passed their trial with flying colours. They have fitted in and they are all good characters." Despite it being his last chance to do so before the start of the season, O'Driscoll decided against giving his likely starting line-up at Watford on Saturday, a full game. He said: "We need to have a full squad and that's the idea of trying to bring everybody in and make sure that everybody is fit to play. "If you get one or two injuries, or something else happens, you then have to draft in players who haven't felt part of it. Everybody has played their part and everybody has worked hard and their attitude and determination has been first class. We've just got to look at what Watford do and try to pick a team to get a result."
