Rovers are likely again to be without right-back James O'Connor in tomorrow's testing Championship clash at Ninian Park.
"Jimmy had a scan on his ankle yesterday to make sure that we know what the problem is," said manager Sean O'Driscoll.
"It depends on what the scan shows as to whether he could be included tomorrow.
"Physio John Dickens is a little bit concerned that it hasn't responded to treatment and Jimmy hasn't trained this week
Looking ahead to what will be the club's last ever visit to Ninian Park, O'Driscoll said: "They are a very partisian Welsh crowd.
"I think that their home record is as good as anybody in the division and they've not conceded that many goals there as well.
"They are fifth in the league and had a good win against Barnsley in midweek, but if we are going to meet those challenges then now is the time to do it."
Cardiff move to a new stadium next season.
O'Driscoll added: "We are on the back of back-to-back wins and on a good run.
"We are also confident that if we do go a goal down it is not the end of the world because we are capable of scoring goals which we always knew, but which just didn't happen for us.
"We've two hard away games this week at Charlton and Cardiff and we'd have been pleased to draw both. But we got three points in the first game so it almost takes a lot of pressure off.
"But I am sure that the players will be a little bit greedy and will want to go there and prove that we are as good as anybody in this league against one of the better sides.
"Cardiff are gunning for an automatic play-off spot and manager Dave Jones, who I know from his time at Southampton, will be aware of us and know what we can do because they are professional and will probably have watched our last two games."
One of the biggest threats to Rovers' prospects of a third successive win is striker Michael Chopra.
"Michael Chopra is a talented player whose technically very good and his finishing is excellent," said O'Drsicoll.
