Whaley told the Sheffield Star: "My career has hit a bit of a stalemate at this moment in time. But thanks to the gaffer here (Sean O'Driscoll) deciding to take a look at me I've got another chance.
"It's up to me to prove myself between now and January. I've only been here for just over a week and I feel good. I wouldn't say that I'm 100% match fit, but that will only come when I've got some games under my belt.
"I can play on either flank or up front and hopefully I can do a job for the team
