24-year-old Belfast born Alan has played on loan at Brighton this season in the Championship making eight appearances, his last against Hull in December when Brighton won 2-1. Previously he had been on loan at Rushden, Bournemouth and Stockport. Alan began his career as a trainee at Southampton and made three starting appearances for the first team in the Premiership during 2002. He has signed on a two and half year contract. He will be number 36.
Alan "I never thought it was a come down coming to Rovers as I think they are a team going up and I could soon be in the Championship with them. I heard in the summer that they were looking at me but nothing came of it but as soon as they came in this time I jumped at the chance."
