Cancer patient David Boyd, aged 61, donated a Doncaster Rovers football shirt to the Chatsfield Suite at Doncaster Royal Infirmary after some of the club's stars signed the shirt.
Mr Boyd, who has been receiving treatment at the Chatsfield Suite for Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma since February, said: "This is my way of giving something back. It's a way of saying thank you to all the staff at the Suite who have been excellent and looked after me so well over the past few months."
Mr Boyd, maintenance engineer at Keepmoat Stadium, managed to get hold of the signed shirt through contacts at work.
The life-long Doncaster Rovers fan describes his work as "the best job in the world".
Stacey Nutt, haematology clinical nurse specialist, is delighted with the donation.
She said: "This is a very kind gesture. We hope to raffle off the shirt in order to raise money which will then be placed into a trust fund and used to buy equipment or to make the environment nicer for the patients."
