Rovers hopinjg to double up against Bristol City

By Site
Thursday, 4th March 2010
Doncaster Rovers assistant manager Richard O'Kelly is hoping for a change in fortunes in Saturday's Championship clash against Bristol City at Ashton Gate.
"It hasn't been a happy hunting ground during my time at the club," said O'Kelly

"As a player and as a coach in the past I've had some decent results there.

"We'll be looking to get back on track down there, after only picking up one point in our last three games, but it won't be easy.

"They have been resurgent in recent games, following a bit of a rocky patch, and they had a very good win over West Bromwich Albion in their last home match.

"They were under the cosh in the first half but they produced a good second half display and they rallied round and came back strongly and in the end recorded a well deserved victory.

"We beat them at home in December with a cracking goal by Billy Sharp, after he had combined well with James Coppinger and John Oster.

"On another day they could have had an equaliser and we probably got a bit lucky with an offside decision.

"They are a very good side and they've got some very good players.

"Louis Carey is a big player for them - he's a rock at the back. Midfielder Lee Johnson, who is a player that I've always rated, is back in the side and playing particularly well.

"They've just signed Chris Iwelumo from Wolves on loan for a month.

"He'll be a threat. He played against us last year and he's got a physical presence.

"I don't know him personally but he seems to be a good motivator; he affects a lot of people around him so we'll have to keep an eye on him."

Saturday's game kicks-off a particularly testing month for Rovers, who face a rearranged game at Preston next Tuesday.

"As I've said before there are no easy games in this league and any result, be it home or away, is always welcome," said O'Kelly.

"But Ashton Gate is one of those places where if we come away with a result on Saturday will do our confidence an awful lot of good.

"We are hoping to get something from the game."
