The centre-back is currently sidelined with a broken metatarsal the second time this season that he has suffered such an injury.

"It's frustrating but that is the way it is in football sometimes,"

"I didn't know that I'd broken the metatarsal the first time I did it against Swansea and played on until the end even though I was in quite a bit of pain.

"But I knew straight away what I had done this time after twisting my foot in a practice game last month, and I came off.

"Having been through it before earlier in the season when injuring the other foot, at least I know what to expect in terms of rehab and roughly how long it will be before I am back playing again.

"I had hoped to have the walking boot off when I saw the specialist recently, but he said to leave it on a little bit longer.

"I should be out of the boot in about ten days or so and then I'll take it easy for a couple of weeks, just doing light training, before hopefully resuming full training with the rest of the lads.

"We've got a lot of games coming up in the next month or so and the gaffer will want as many players to be fit as possible.

"Although the number of games won't worry the players, the more games we play the more chances of injury taking its toll on the squad.

"As I say, it's going to be a tough month with at least seven games. But at least we've had a bit of a break with the weather so we'll be going into the run of games charged up and ready to play.
