Rovers Declare Intrest In Clingan

Dave Penney had announced his interest in Wolves midfielder Sammy Clingan, he said he was prepared to match any fee, although he did also say: "We're keeping an eye on the situation but I'm not too hopeful, if Forest can't reach an agreement with him I'm doubtful we can." He always bursts our bubble!

The Belfast-born midfielder got his first taste of life with the Wolves first team when he was included in the line-up that travelled to Portugal during pre-season 2002/03.

Sammy then trained regularly with the Wolverhampton first team and once again joined the squad on pre-season tour the following year.

During Wolves' Premiership season Sammy took a place on the subs' bench twice - the most notable being at Old Trafford. He was later named as a late change to the squad for the match away to Middlesbrough, following an injury to Colin Cameron during the warm-up.

He is yet to make his first team debut but is a regular in the reserves and was made captain for several of the second string's matches in 2003/04.

He spent three months on loan at Chesterfield during 2004/05, making 15 appearances and scoring two goals.

The youngster has featured for Northern Ireland's under 21s.
