Doncaster Rovers are considering offering former Southampton defender Wayne Thomas a long-term deal. Thomas, aged 29, impressed on his debut for Rovers in Tuesday evening's 1-0 win against West Bromwich. Rovers manager Sean O'Driscoll told BBC Radio Sheffield: "He has done everything which an experience defender should do."He looked strong. He has been in the Championship and in the Premiership and is a good character."
Thomas is expected to get another run out for Rovers in their final pre-season friendly against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
Rovers have also signed former West Ham youngster Josh Payne on a short-term contract. The midfielder also made his debut against West Bromwich Albion.
