But the talismanic midfielder believes anything is possible if Rovers can continue their solid start to the new season. The club are sitting healthily in midtable, after just one defeat - when they lost to Middlesbrough. But an excellent victory over Cardiff in their last league game delighted Stock, and he wants more of the same. "Our main job is always safety, and we want to stay in this division," "We're a small club on a small budget, so to be playing in the Championship is a great achievement. "You always look to get 50 points on the board, that's the figure which you think will keep you safe, but the quicker you get that the more chance you have of finishing higher in the table. "We've had a good start to the season and it was an excellent win against Cardiff, they are a very strong side. "But we've got to keep going, and make sure we keep performing to give ourselves every chance of a higher finish this season." Stock made his full international debut on Wednesday night for Wales as they lost 3-1 to Russia in a World Cup qualifier at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium. But the midfielder admitted he thought his international chance had gone because of recurring back problems. Thankfully, an operation over the summer solved that problem, and Stock is understandably keen to play many more international matches. "I was really surprised, to be honest. I didn't think I'd get my chance because of my back," he added. "But thankfully it's sorted and I don't have to worry about all the travelling which aggravated it in the first place. "John Toshack (Welsh boss) came up to me before the Russia game and said to me I'd be starting. It was a great feeling. "It's a step-up in class, and you've got to be quick on the ball, but also at times I had so much time on the ball as well. "You don't get that time in the Championship, but it was great to play against world-class players and I was pretty pleased with the way I played. "I'd love to play more matches, and hopefully John will keep me in his plans. You always want to play at the top level and test yourself."
