Rovers boss - We are not across the finishing line yet

Defeats against promotion chasing Birmingham and Reading in the last two games have left Rovers on 49 points - just short of the target needed to be safe from relegation back to League One.

Victory at Coventry on Saturday would just about clinch it for Doncaster but four more points would take them to 53 points - and no team reaching that total has been relegated from the second tier in
the last ten years.

O'Driscoll has never put a figure on the total needed for safety himself but he admitted: "We are not across the finishing line yet and I wouldn't want to be saying that with only two or three games left to play.

"We are enjoying ourselves in the Championship and the sooner we make sure we will be playing there again next season the better.

"It has been a new experience for most of us but I think we have not looked out of place and have learned and improved as the season has gone on. The last two games have been particularly instructive.

"I don't think we coped that well with the way Birmingham played against us but we did better against Reading on Tuesday night and might have taken something from the game which would have been a tremendous achievement."

He added: "Apart from the top three teams I think everyone is capable of beating each other.

"The top three seem to find a way of winning when they are not playing well and that's not something we can do at the moment.

"The last two games have been against teams that have just come down from the Premier League while this is our first season in the Championship.

"We are not quite at their level yet - especially when you look at the money they pay for players - but we are closing the gap and as a football club we are improving all the time.

"I'm not sure we will ever be able to go out and pay five million pounds for a player or pay the wages that come with that.

"But we can still move the club forward and try and be a team that
everyone wants to come and watch."
