Boss Sean O'Driscoll is quick to point out the club had ambition before he arrived. They just didn't know how to achieve that ambition.
"The ambitions were here before I even came," he said. "I just think how to get there had never been on the agenda.
"When you asked about the structure and what the plan was people looked at you as if you were speaking another language.
"So we've had to put in place a way of doing things and that's been a fight, because every time you lose a game people tell you that you should be doing something different.
"We've had to drag people kicking and screaming along with us and we've stuck to our beliefs."
5 years ago Chairman John Ryan, from Doncaster's then dilapidated home at Belle Vue, promised a rosier future in a new home. With Championship football the target. Well the new Keepmoat Stadium is now fully operational and the promise will be fully fulfilled if O'Driscoll can deliver a victory this afternoon at Wembley.
