O'Driscoll - I always believed we'd get the results

Doncaster manager Sean O'Driscoll paid tribute to his players as they chalked up their sixth Championship win in seven games.
"I thought we worked hard and got what we deserved," O'Driscoll said. "In the first half we were sparkling and we could have put the game out of reach.

"But they stuck an extra man in midfield and came back into it in the second half.

"We got a bit 'champagne football' at times but you have to be careful because one misplaced pass in this division and you can be punished.

"Overall I was pleased with the performance and the result."

After a blistering first five minutes in which Wednesday looked as if they would overpower their opponents, Doncaster took complete charge of the game.

Doncaster are now very much in a position where they could put their early season relegation worries behind them with confidence.

"Our level of performance has been first class all season and I always believed that if we kept playing well we would get the results and that's what happened."

Owls manager Brian Laws was disappointed that his side could not build on last week's excellent Steel City derby but is now looking forward to another south Yorkshire encounter when the Owls face Barnsley tomorrow evening.

"For the first 10 minutes we were composed and passed the ball well - after that we were second-best for the rest of the half," he admitted. "We just started lashing at the ball and that was disappointing because if you don't have composure you don't win games.

"It's easy to say that we should have come here and got a result after beating Sheffield United last week but that would be disrespectful to Doncaster.

"They are the form team in the division at present.

"They pass the ball very well and play with a lot of confidence. Sometimes you have to give the opposition credit however hard it is to say that."
