Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll, who started the youngster in two games in addition to bringing him off the bench in another two, was keen to bring him back next season.
But he knows that the Magpies are unlikely to allow the 18 year-old midfielder to return to the Keepmoat Stadium following their relegation from the Premier League yesterday.
They lost 1-0 at Villa Park and were relegated along with Middlesbrough and West Bromwich Albion on the last day of the Premiership season.
All three clubs are likely to attract capacity gates to the Keepmoat Stadium next season.
Newcastle, who will be playing in the second tier of English football for the first time since the early 90s, will be making their first appearance in a league game in the town since the 1947-48 season when they completed a double over Rovers.
You also have to go back to that season for the last time Rovers entertained the Baggies - a team Rovers No 2 Richard O'Kelly has a soft spot for.
Rovers will be clashing swords with Yorkshire rivals Middlesbrough for the first time since the 1986-87 campaign.
Scunthorpe, who won the League One title outright in 2006-07 only to be relegaged the following season, regained their place in the Championship when beating Millwall in yesterday's League One promotion play-off final at Wembley.
The fact that Rovers will be playing the likes of Newcastle and Scunthorpe is likely to boost season-ticket sales.
Discounted season tickets remain on sale at the ground until Saturday afternoon.
