Thursday night saw the Mansfield side that Doncaster grew to respect this season get to the 3rd Division playoff Final on a penalty shootout.
This season the rivalry between the clubs going back to the miners strike was replaced by a bond of respect as the two games between them were footballing classics (I know, I produced the DVD's). Mansfield , although beaten twice rocked Doncaster on both occasions.
Chelsea Barsby, a beautiful little girl with eye cancer united both sets of fans with her courage and had us dour Yorkshirmen almost crying into our gravy with her smiles. We managed to raise the money for her to go to Disneyland between us while she still has some precious sight left. Chelsea became such a favourite in Doncaster she even came back for Easter and recieved boxes and boxes of Easter Eggs from the crowd , and now supports both clubs helping get rid of those old miners strike hangovers.
So although I will be cheering for Huddersfield in the final, as a Yorkshireman must, Chelsea and her dad Neil will be in all our thoughts.
And she can come to the second division with Doncaster anyway because we love her to bits.
