Doncaster's Stock set to join Wales squad
The 27 year-old is being considered for a place in the squad to face Russia in a World Cup qualifier in Cardiff's Millennium Stadium next Wednesday.
Stock is still without a full cap, having played four times for the under-21s.
And he took a step back from the international scene a year ago because of a back injury.
Stock, formerly with Bournemouth and Preston, had been called up for the squad to play Luxembourg in February 2008, but did not get onto the pitch.
He was selected again for the match in Russia later that year, and was actually waiting to come on as a substitute in Moscow when Toshack changed his mind and sent on Wrexham's Steve Evans instead in the 2-1 defeat.
Stock's back problems so concerned Doncaster, they were reluctant for him to fly around Europe with Wales when it was likely he was only going to be a squad member.
Since then Stock has not been involved in Toshack's squads. But the retirements of Carl Fletcher and Carl Robinson has left him short of experience in midfield and the Winchester-born player is now being considered for a recall.
