DONCASTER Rovers' unbeaten home record in 2009 faces one of its biggest tests when second-placed Birmingham City check in at the Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday evening.
The Blues' visit is followed four days later by third-placed Reading in the toughest back-to-back home fixtures of the season.
"It will be a tough game as will Tuesday's home game against Reading," said centre-back Sam Hird.
"Having said that, we were unfortunate not to get a win when we lost 1-0 at Birmingham and we were unlucky not to draw at Reading.
"They may be two of the top three sides and we are a mid-table side, but if you just took results from the second half of the season then we'd be right up there, so we have nothing to fear.
"We think that we are capable of beating anyone in this league if we perform to the standards that we can do.
"We are unbeaten at home this year and we are going into every home game in a confident mood because we are scoring goals now.
"We've got to keep it tight at the back and try and lock out our opponents so that we can give our strikers the chance to win the game,
"Paul Heffernan is on fire at the moment and James Coppinger is also playing well
"If we keep a clean sheet then we know that we'll pick up at least a point and that we only need to score once to win the game.
"We were without Brian Stock, who is a key figure in the team, on Tuesday but we still beat QPR 2-0 which shows that we've got a versatile squad and strength-in-depth.
"Mark Wilson came in on Tuesday for Brian and I thought that he did well as he did in the previous home game against Derby when he took over from Richie Wellens.
"Gareth Roberts has also come back into the side and done well in recent games. Adam Lockwood also had a good game on Tuesday in his first start for a while.
"It is important that you have people who can come in and do a job because you never know when you are going to pick up injuries."
