Rovers' rise from bottom of the table at Christmas to their current position - eight points above the relegation danger zone - has been remarkable.
But far from celebrating manager Sean O'Driscoll said today: "There is still plenty of room for improvement."
Rovers have won seven of their last eight Championship games and drawn the other.
And the run culminated this week with a hard fought 1-0 win over Bristol City - the only side with a better recent record than Rovers until Tuesday night.
O'Driscoll missed the after match media circus where all present were glowing in their praise of his team.
Apparently he was 'hoarse' and he joked later that it was through 'shouting and moaning' at his players!
But he said "Of course the boys have been tremendous and deserve all the praise that comes their way.
"There is always room for improvement because, if you stand still, you end up going backwards.
"We defended magnificently when we had to the other night but there were still things in that area that could be improved, just as there are in other areas of the pitch.
"Nobody can play well every week and we are not going to win all our remaining matches however hard we try.
No sooner than Rovers have climbed off the bottom and out of the relegation places fans have been speculating on just how high they can finish and even whether a play-off challenge is possible.
But the Doncaster boss smiled and said: "The target at the start of the season was to stay in this league - and that's still the objective.
"We are looking over our shoulder all the time because this game has a nasty habit of giving you a rude awakening if you don't.
"And we will keep doing that until we have enough points to be safe.
