The 32-year-old Rovers striker was due to play the last game of his loan spell for Oldham against Hartlepool on Saturday but that game was postponed due to a frozen pitch at Boundary Park.
Byfield made eight appearance's during his two month loan spell with The Latics scoring just one goal.
