"Considering where we were at Christmas it was going to take a massive effort to stay in the Championship but we did it and it is a great achievement," said the influential midfielder, who will again be missing tomorrow.

"Even when results weren't going our way the team stuck together," said Stock."At some clubs you get people drifting in and out but that didn't happen.

"And, as I say, everyone stuck together and everybody had the right attitude and that showed in some of our performances.

"To go on the sort of run we did in the second half of the season was a great effort.

"The manager has played a massive role in what we've achieved. People don't see half the work that he does behind the scenes.

"He prepares the team well for every game and I think that he's done a great job to steer us to safety.

"We've received a lot of credit this season due to certain performances but there is a feeling within the club that we can achieve more.

"We don't feel that the play-offs are a million miles away and we'll give it a go next season. We'll certainly take a lot of confidence from this season.

"No-one has really steam-rollered us and we've got to take a lot of positives from the season
