Bradford park Avenue have a lot of respect with the Rovers fans. It all stems back to a pre season friendly when at the last minute Mansfield decided they were to mighty a Second Division club to visit Doncaster, leaving us with no opponent. That's mansfield who are now a league below us and being deserted by their best players.
Bradford park Avenue stepped into the breach with only 24 hours notice and saved the friendly, and since then we always manage to visit the horsefall for a friendly.
Last night was another of those triallist evenings where you can't name at least 40% of the squad and the the first 20 mins is punctuated by " Who's that then?" every time a ball goes forwards. Early players identified players were Chris Beardsley of "Oh so mighty Mansfield" fame and Guy Ipua(?) once at QPR?
The pace of the game was the usual disjointed early friendly with Pascal Renier the world class defender playing like a retired Milkman but Chris Beardsley looking the pick of the bunch. His reply to Bradford park avenue's opener was clinical and welcomed. BPA won the midfield battle , with Dan Sherif (ex Frickley Athletic) showing the class he had in the recent Sheffield Senior Cup final and proving his move to BPA was a good one. Carl Shutt's team were never fully outclassed and the tall number 26, who we believe to be Fola Onibuje(Ex Preston) set up Guy Ipua for another quite clinical finish.
Nothing more or less than expected for the first friendly , with Dan Sherif looking like man of the match down the right wing for BPA and less than convincing display for the triallist keeper (Jones ) and the Belgian International Pascal Renier.
