Doncaster Rvs. face a trip to Swansea City at City Of Swansea Stadium on Saturday afternoon(I thought it was called "The New Stadium"? Catchy!)
Rovers will be hoping to improve upon an average previous return from this fixture. Of the 24 games played, Rovers have recorded 5 wins, and Swansea City have come away with 12 victories.
This fixture is significant for a number of reasons, the first being that it was our last away game of the horrendous 97/98 season where we somehow managed to come away with a 0-0 draw. It's fair to say that the two teams of that day will little resemblance to the current two.
The most recent encounter between these two sides was just last season, in March 2004, where the two sides shared the spoils courtesy of a 1 - 1 final scoreline in a Friday night League Two match which was voted as the best away game of that Championship season.
This will, however be Rovers first visit to Swansea's fine looking new stadium, although having looked at the pictures it looks far too much like Hull Citys to get really excited about! Here's hoping that it has managed to transport that boisterous intimidating atmosphere to the new place as there were few places in the lower leagues that could compete with the Vetch on a big match day. I won't miss those famous toilets though... no need to take the wellies this time!
