With a new week upon us, it's just about time for the speculation whirlwind to start again as we enter the last full week of the window.
Now the name of the player I and many others want us to sign above any other appears in that list and it's obvious we're interested, lets hope we hear developments on that one soon even if it's negative so that we can all move on. I do harbour hopes that Clingan will be a Rovers player before long but obviously we would face some very tough competition for his signature so I think we can assume that Dave has other players in mind for that role, I've no idea who they could be, but I guess we'll see what the week brings......
David Graham is another name mentioned and I think most of us agree that he would be a useful player for us if he could recapture the sparkling form he showed at Torquay. He's a very skilful, sharp and strong forward who can score goals, create something from nothing and link up the play very well but Dave Penney has strongly played that one down so again we'll wait and see. Dave always keeps his cards close to his chest and plays speculation down so it's difficult to know what to read into his comments. Huddersfield have emerged as candidates for his signature so he's another player in demand!
The name Kevin Gall also crops up and indeed it seems we've had a bid rejected. What do people make of this one? As a striker his goals record is not particularly great but he's spent plenty of time on the right wing, a position we require extra options in particularly with Coppinger's imminent suspension. Gall is lightning quick and tricky but his end product has been questioned by Yeovil fans who don't seem too gutted at the prospect of his departure. He certainly has potential to work with and I read somewhere that he's expected to leave Yeovil tomorrow so it is possible he could be coming here although again Huddersfield have a bid in so again we await developments!
Finally the Free Press mentions Penney possible going for a player he had looked at earlier in the season. I think we can rule out Jason Price after he has re-established himself in the Hull City first eleven and Jon Foster (me!) has a feeling (with utterly no evidence!) that he may have cracked the code on this one. If I am right (and it's a big if) then the player in question fits the bill of something of a utility player in that he can play in any position across midfield or possibly even upfront, he is perhaps most effective wide right which would please many. We were strongly linked with a bid on the summer but ultimately it didn't happen. If I'm right then I think people would be happy with the signing, he currently plays in our division, scores and makes goals, has links to the area and is currently stalling on terms over a new deal that expires in the summer. I'll leave it at that as it may all be a creation from my overactive but under-worked imagination!
