Jason Price For Rovers

Hull midfieler Jason Price is going to be signing for The Rovers possibly before tonights game, he would be a good addition to the Rovers midfield in my opinion, and has done a good job at Hull.

Here is his career in brief:

Having signed from Aberaman in 1995, Jason was included in Swansea City's squad as a non-playing substitute on a number of occasions in 1996-97 before being finally being handed his debut by manager Jan Molby when he came off the bench against The Rovers at the Vetch Field in January 1997. He began as a right-back with the Swans but also featured as a centre-back for their reserves.

Jason started the 1997-98 campaign as the South Wales club's right wing-back, and featured in the Swans remarkable 7-4 defeat at Boothferry Park on 30 August 1997. In April 1998, Jason made the first of his seven Wales Under-21 appearances (against Italy).

With Steve Jones establishing his place in the Swans right-back berth, Jason's additional pace was employed further forward as he adopted a wide attacking role. It was seen to its most potent effect in 1999-00 when he scored six goals in 39 appearances during City's Division Three championship campaign.

Due to Steve's injury absence, Jason returned to right-back as he enjoyed a near ever-present record in the Swans' Second Divisionterm.of 2000-01.

Out of contract in July 2001, Jason remained in Division Two as he joined Brentford on a three-month contract. Switching between full-back and midfield, he played in the Bees first 18 games of the season before his move north to Tranmere Rovers in November 2001.

His versatile tag was soon confirmed at Prenton Park as Rovers boss Dave Watson immediately decided to try him out as a striker. It was a decision that paid off as Jason netted nine times in his first six games for the Birkenhead club including two in a FA Cup tie against Brigg Town. He formed a formidable partnership with Wayne Allison, and scored three more goals in the following three games.

He was used in midfield and attack in 2002-03, but it proved to be a frustrating campaign as he suffered a series of injuries including a broken collarbone and wrist.

Jason's move to the KC proved to be a great success with his first term concluding in spectacular fashion. His last day goal against Bristol Rovers not only ignited remarkable promotion celebrations, it also took his goals tally to ten and meant that four Hull players had reached double figures in league and cup games in the same season for the first time since the 1965-66 campaign.

Although the Welsh winger added defensive stability to the Tigers' right flank it was his goals that took the eye, most notably with the first hat-trick of his senior career in the top-of-the-table win against The Rovers on 28 December.

He struggled to overcome an injury during the close season then difficult to regain his place on the right of midfield and continued to be on the fringes of the first team as the Tigers completed back-to-back promotions.

Jason's 2004-05 highlight was the goal that gave City the lead in the fine 3-1 win at Tranmere - his old club and promotion rivals - in March. His input into the team effort was recognised in April when his contract was extended to June 2006
