Doncaster Rovers No 2 Richard O'Kelly has set on-loan centre-back Jason Shackell the challenge of scoring more goals

The centre-back put paid to Peterborough's hopes of snatching a draw in last night's Championship clash at the Keepmoat Stadium when heading home the final goal in Rovers' 3-1 win from an 85th minute corner. It was Shackell's first goal in Rovers' colours. "Jason should score more goals," said O'Kelly. "He heads the ball more than anyone on the pitch but he doesn't get on the end of enough set-pieces in the box and that is something that he's got to add to his game. "He's aware of it and we have talked about it." O'Kelly was pleased with other aspects of Shackell's display and also felt that fellow centre-back Sam Hird did well after a shaky start. "Sam dominated his area in the second half and he broke the play up well". "His use of the ball was very good and he looked the player we hope that he can become." Although pleased with Rovers first win in eight games, O'Kelly felt they had played better when going down 1-0 against Barnsley on Saturday. "We did a lot of things that were poor in the first 15 or so minutes," he said. "Then we got a goal and scored another five minutes later and started to play well. "But then we got sloppy and they are a team who just go for it. They've got some talented players and they look to outscore the opposition. "The most galling thing is that the rain made it a good night for passing the ball but we didn't pass it in the first 15 minutes or so. "We looked nervous on the ball and that was a little bit due to the fact that we needed a result and it probably fed through to the players. They don't get any pressure from us to get results, though they are under pressure to perform. "If we'd have performed like we did on Saturday, we'd have won the game a bit more comfortably tonight. "It was good reaction from Billy for the first goal and that is what he does really well. "Dean Shiels had a hand in that and also scored the second. He was a threat throughout the 90 minutes. "He played in a position he likes playing in. I'm pleased for him because he hasn't found it easy to break into the side. "But he's had his chance in the last two games and he's done well."
