Doncaster Rovers will continue to scour the loan market for potential new signings after drafting in Simon Gillett on a two-month contract

Manager Sean O'Driscoll yesterday moved to alleviate his club's mounting selection problems by prising the midfielder away from Southampton. Gillett is expected to make his Rovers debut during Saturday's South Yorkshire derby against Barnsley. And he could soon be joined by more new arrivals as O'Driscoll and his staff look to strengthen a squad weakened by injuries and suspensions to a number of key players. "We are always looking," Mickey Walker, Rovers' director of football, said. "We are always keeping an eye open for who might be out there. "It's part and parcel of what we do. "You've got to have a list of options at your disposal so, if the opportunity does arise, you can move quickly and you know the people you are bringing in are going to be the right ones." Speaking before Gillett was granted permission to leave St Mary's, Walker added: "Everyone works closely together on that score. "We're constantly updating our information because situations can change all the time." Brian Stock, one of Rovers' high-profile absentees, was scheduled to visit hospital yesterday as he enters the next phase of his rehabilitation from ankle surgery. The 27-year-old was forced to withdraw from the Wales squad beaten 2-1 by Finland over the weekend after undergoing a procedure aimed at curing the problem. Rovers do not expect Stock to return to action until after Christmas, but hope his latest progress report could enable them to revise that timetable. "He's still on crutches and will be going to see the surgeon for a follow-up," physio John Dickens said. "It will be three months before he runs."
